Jesse Owusu Versus Brian Brewster

Jesse Owusu is coming off a huge win for Empire over Fury of Society of Destruction, but this week he’s facing a man who is coming off an even bigger win…Brian Brewster, who is now one half of the tag team champions. Jesse represents Empire while Brian is representing Feral Destruction, a name that former world champion Neela Shizeguma has been linked with. Will Jesse get the win, and keep things rolling for Empire? Or will Brian pick up a win as a singles star and perhaps be setting his path in line with a singles title?

Brian pulls up in front of Lynn’s house in his silver Porsche, but he sits there for a moment. Brian had decided on the way home after the pay per view that he had to at least confront Steve about Steve’s relationship with Neela. It had not been sitting well with Brian, but what was getting on his nerves was keeping such information from Lynn. Brian isn’t sure of Steve’s reasons for keeping the information secret, but there had to be something, anything that would explain it. Brian takes a deep breath and gets out of the car. He walks up and rings the doorbell, waiting for someone to answer. After a minute or so the door opens and Steve is standing there.

Steve: Hey, what’s on your mind? Lynn didn’t say you were stopping by.

Brian walks into the house and notices that it’s very quiet.

Brian: Where are the girls?

Steve: Dad stopped by and took them to the pool and then they’re spending the night at his house. You here to see Lynn or Cam?

Brian: They’re not home?

Steve: No, Lynn had a doctor’s appointment. I won’t be surprised if she comes home and says its every two weeks now. She doesn’t have much longer.

Brian: A couple months at least.

Steve: Yeah but in baby terms? That’s not much. You didn’t answer my question.

Brian finally looks his uncle in the eyes.

Brian: I’m here to see you. We have to talk before I…..before I blurt out what I know, which I almost did a couple weeks ago.

Steve sighs, as if he knew this was coming. He heads for the den and looks at Brian.

Steve: Ok come in here and sit down. I know we need to talk this out without anyone around.

Brian goes in the den and sits down in one of the chairs. Steve sits on the couch but Brian can tell this wasn’t something Steve wants to talk about.

Brian: I….I don’t know where to start. I mean….why Neela?

Steve: She was here talking to Cam all the time, or training and well we just got to talking. I feel at ease around her and one night we went out and it just kind of went from there.

Brian: But Steve, first off you’re MY uncle, second you’re nearly twenty years older than Neela….

Steve: You do know she’s almost 23, right?

Brian: Yeah I know, and if I remember right, you’re…..pushing 40?

Steve: You would remember how much older I am than Lynn.

Brian: Lynn is about to turn 35! Of course I know how old you are! You aren’t much younger than my own dad!

Steve: As I said, it just….happened. With Neela, age is just a number Brian.

Brian: And never mind that someone a lot closer to her age might want to ask her out?

Steve leans back against the couch cushion, suddenly understanding some of Brian’s feelings.

Steve: This is because YOU wanted to ask her out, isn’t it? Well from what she’s told me, you’ve asked her out a couple times now and she told you no. What makes you think it would be any different now?

Brian: Because we’ve spent more time together. Because she’s had a chance to get to know me better. Because….

Steve: Because she doesn’t hardly know anyone in Savannah?

Brian stops, knowing Steve is right up to a point. Brian had thought that because Neela only knew his family and friends that he might have a better chance with her than when she lived New York City.

Brian: Ok fine….yeah you’re right somewhat. But what I don’t get is why are you keeping it from Lynn? Or are you thinking she would react the same way?

Steve: I just don’t think she would understand because…..

Brian: Because of the age difference.

Steve doesn’t answer Brian, not wanting to admit that Brian was absolutely right.

Brian: Look….Lynn took a bunch of crap about dating Billy because of the age difference between them, but that’s not what caused them to break up. I doubt she would give two shits about you and Neela.

Steve: I just don’t feel right telling her, I….I can’t explain it. Besides shouldn’t you be worrying about your match rather than worrying about what I’m doing?

Brian: I’m worrying about both.

What are you worrying about?

Brian looks over his shoulder and Lynn is walking into the room. Her “baby bump” is very evident now and Brian can tell that things haven’t been any easier on her since getting over near crippling morning sickness and complete exhaustion. While she still looks tired it’s now a different type of tired, one that goes with pregnancy.

Brian: Worrying about my match against Jesse, but I got some ideas.

Lynn goes over and Brian stands up, not sure what’s on Lynn’s mind. She looks up at him and, to his surprise, hugs him.

Brian: What’s that for?

Lynn: Well I haven’t seen you since you won the title, I would think a hug is the very least I can give you. I’m proud of you….very proud in fact. You proved, along with Cam, that the name still means something, that no matter which three it is the team is still strong.

Brian smiles at his aunt and returns the hug, but his eyes meet Steve’s. He mouths the word “soon” and Steve nods.

Lynn: Now as for Jesse, honestly I think you can take him. Neela beat him and you’re every bit as good as she is, maybe even a bit more.

Brian: Like I said, I think I got him handled.

To Be Continued

On Camera

The scene opens to show Brian relaxing on the back patio of the home of his aunt Lynn Brewster. It’s a warm, early summer day in Savannah and Brian is dressed in a dark green t-shirt and tan cargo shorts. He’s leaned back in the chair he’s sitting in, drumming the fingers of one hand on the arm of the chair.

Brian: You know until recently people wondered did I have what it takes to be in SCW, but at Slammed on Memorial Day I know there are at least two people who know better than others, named Priest and Kronik, that indeed I do have what it takes….and more. But this match isn’t about them, or what I was part of winning that night, the SCW Tag titles, but it’s about me making my stance, assuring my position in SCW. I am set to prove I am one of the top wrestlers this company has on my own, and to do that I face….Jesse Owusu.

You know Jesse, you’ve had a very interesting career here in SCW. You were Jordan’s lackey, and it seems that when you failed to take down Neela Shizeguma, he dropped you and so you went looking around, somehow you convinced Brian Kennedy to not only believe in you, but also your girlfriend. You convinced him so well that he made you part of Empire, yet even that name is laughable. Hell I hear rumors of how wonderful or how well you are doing away from SCW, but I can only base what I know of you on what you’ve done in this company and…..you don’t impress me one bit. I once thought you were the type of man who was only friends with Jordan Post because it was convenient and that you were truly your own man. I thought that not even Jordan would force you to do something you didn’t want to do yourself. But as time goes by…..I feel you are becoming even less significant around here. Now you hitched your wagon to the highest star you could find, but when he falls I wonder if you and the sweetie will stick with him, or will you realize that the only person you can rely upon is….yourself.

Some may ask the same of me, ask if I am my own man. I am first and foremost and second I am part of Feral Destruction. However, unlike you and your stance in Empire, whatever it may be, I know that being part of Feral Destruction AND knowing who I am happen in the same breath; there is no distinction. I would never ask Cam, or Lynn when she returns sometime next year, to interfere on my behalf. I have no need for them to do that because I am a wrestler who has some of the best training in the world, training that can’t be bought because our family doesn’t sell it. I was trained by my grandfather, my father, my uncles, and….most notably by my aunt and her best friend—two people who I greatly respect for all they have taught me. So when you look at me know that many people had a hand in perhaps the greatest wrestler there is, but I also know that there are some things I could practice and yet not learn, things you only learn by facing people you don’t know.

What I do know about you Jesse is this….you faced Fury and defeated her, but let’s be honest here, it can’t be that difficult to defeat a woman who is….positively obsessed with a person who isn’t even active in wrestling! Seriously, she’s been on this path a few months now, and even someone like you Jesse surely could have seen that from a mile away. One look and a person would know Fury’s mind was anywhere but in that ring against you. On the other hand, Priest and Kronik know that my mind was in that ring against them, they could have put good money down on the idea, for it would have paid off. Along with Cam, I was very focused on that match, knowing that if we defeated them, we would have a prize that no one else in SCW has yet to hold. However for all my training I learned a few new things, things that I bring to my match with you.

Since it was announced that I would face you at Overdrive, I’ve watched video of your matches, and well….first off I had to do some serious searching and I learned a very interesting fact. Jesse you’ve been with SCW since the first Overdrive and in that time, up until now, you’ve had six matches…..six matches since February 28th, 2012 with SCW. Now someone who isn’t my caliber might think that you’ve only had six matches because you are THAT great and THAT wonderful and THAT scary in the ring! HA! I say differently because you are a great big disappointment in that regards. Seriously Jesse, six matches and…TWO wins. We’ve talked about your most recent one, the other was a win for the SCW North American title. Then in the only defense you had of said title, you lost to Lucius Tendonin and the North American title was merged with the SCW Alternative title. There was precisely one title defense….and you lost said title defense. You whined way back at the beginning of SCW about how Jordan was a horrible owner because of who was in the main event because it wasn’t you. Well Jordan seems to have been a smart owner because you won that night but you fizzled worse than a dead firework. You had no business back then whining about wanting main event status….and hell you would have no room to whine now about even getting a match! See Jesse I’ve been standing by, waiting for my time to shine as a singles star, being patient and that’s with a general manager who would rather see me six feet under, instead of giving me a match and well….I face you.

Jesse this isn’t a match to help you bolster your spot in SCW, this match is about me making quick work of you. This match is about proving that I should be a contender for a title around here, whether it’s this new TV title they’re talking about, or it’s for the Alternative title held by that ….place holder Priest. See my aim is for the Alternative title because it needs to be held by someone who is truly champion material, someone who is….well needs to be held by me. So Jesse I’ll be using you to send a loud message to Jordan and Alzy, that I will not sit quietly by and be ignored any longer. The SCW Tag title is opening doors for me, and I plan on using that to my advantage. Be prepared for the worst because I am bringing it straight to you.

OFF CAMERA

Here we are, at the Owusu Residence located at Toronto, Ontario, Canada (where else?) as the screen open at their master bedroom to see the couple cuddling. Gabrielle is coiled like a snake as Jesse traces his fingers on his wife’s silky smooth skin and admiring the beauty that he’s with. It’s not to say that Jesse and Gabrielle have a perfect marriage ever since they got married on October, because already they had their ups and downs, but we sense an air of calmness surrounding them. They are happy together and in their minds, the sun is still bright and shining upon them. Sure, the possibility of Jesse Owusu fulfilling his dream and becoming a world champion decreases each day he gets older...but it doesn’t matter to him anymore. To him, he now has everything he wants. A beautiful wife, living in a beautiful house, affording the materialistic goods that he always wanted, a CEO position job at XPW(hell yeah!), being part of a stable with the legendary Brian Kennedy, and hell, he’s still going at it as a professional wrestler.

However, deep within the heart/soul of Mr. Young Life, he felt that there was something missing. No, it’s not the desire of winning a world championship because it doesn’t bother him like it used. It was something much more personal. It was about the relationship with his half-brother Prince Adjei. No matter how hard he tried, he just can’t get some closure with his half-brother and former best friend. Prince and Jesse broke into the wrestling scene together in a fed called XWE, which coincidentally is where he met Gabby, and they once had the motto that no matter what, they would have each other back. My, it seems like yesterday when they made that promise when in reality it has been years. Five? Six? Seven? Eight years? Damn, he lost count. Truthfully, he missed him. Not because he is his half brother...but more because he was his best friend.

Keyword is “was.” Ever since that day seven years ago....ever since Jesse caught his brother going back to his old self and being part of a notorious gang in Toronto. Ever since he caught his brother attempting to commit murder. It’s funny, Jesse never told anyone even his mentor Jay Champ about the real reason why Prince was in jail in the first place. Hell, if Jesse was to make a bet, neither does Prince’s so called tag-team partner in UCW James Child knows about why the real reason why Prince was in jail for almost five years before being bailed out by Jay Champ, Both Jesse and Prince knew the real reason. Prince Adjei didn’t go to jail for selling drugs like everyone are lead to be. It was all a fake story to cover for Prince’s mistake. And yet...and yet Prince Adjei has the audacity to blame Jesse for spending hard times in jail? In Jesse’s mind, he saved Prince from making the biggest mistake in his life and to be honest, Prince would have been in jail for much longer than five years. But it doesn’t matter anymore. Prince is back in the right path after he was released from jail. Prince is now a UCW dual champion, holding both the Tag-team titles with his former rival turned best friend James Child and the UCW Modern Warfare Television champion or whatever that title is called nowadays. Prince is back to fulfilling his dreams of becoming a wrestling superstar and so is Jesse. They’re both fulfilling their dreams...but it is a shame that they won’t share their accomplishments. Maybe it is Jesse’s fault. Maybe if Jesse should’ve just prevented Prince from committing a crime without telling the cops. Or maybe he should have just let Prince shot that person.

Who was the person that Prince wanted to kill? It couldn’t be just a random rival gang member or some guy that owes Prince’s gang money, No; the guy that Prince wanted to kill looks familiar. Like Jesse met him before or met someone that looks like him. But where and when? Now he thinks about it...why suddenly is he thinking about the guy Prince wanted to murder? It has been seven years since the accident happen and why suddenly he remembers that guy now? That face, that smirk even at the face of death...those eyes. Those eyes...who are they? Whatever happened to him when Jesse saved his life that day? It’s weird because that buy never pressed charges on Prince and the fake drug story was what landed Prince in jail. The fake drug story that Jesse made up only to protect his half brother. But now, something doesn’t seem right. He never questioned what happen seven years ago until now.

Then again...does it matter who he was? The point is that he hasn't seen him again after the incident. What happen to him? Who knows? But what Jesse do know is that he needs to reconnect with his half brother...but how?

...............

ON CAMERA

“Poor Brian Brewster. He doesn’t know shit about me”

The familiar voice of Jesse Owusu is the only sound that is present as the screen opens at the home office of Mr. Younglfie who is sitting behind his desk and staring deeply at the camera. It seems that he just finished doing his paper work and is taking a break. A much needed break I should add as he is finally going to address to the SCW fans.

Jesse Owusu: Brian, you think you have me all figured out don’t you? Let me ask you a serious question, do you truly know me or my wrestling career? Do you truly know what I have done before and after I signed a contract to SCW? Do you truly think that you have some sort of edge against me? The answer is no. Not at all. But before I explain why, first of all let me say this: Congratulation in winning the SCW tag-team championships. You finally proved the doubters and the naysayers wrong. You finally proved that you do have what it takes to win when it matters and you do deserve to be in the SCW ring. You know I could go to the generic route and say that Cam Dawitt carried the team to victory, but I’m not going to. It was a team effort and I have to commend you for holding your ground against both Kronik and Priest. That was an admirable effort by you Brian. Although one has to wonder, would you guys still have won the tag-team titles if The Empire was in the tag-team title tournament? Hell, choose any members of the Empire including myself and placed them in the tournament and I guarantee that either one of us would have make it to the finals and even defeated you and your mentor Cam Dawitt for the titles. I know it’s a hypothetical situation, but I can’t help but think…”what if The Empire was in the tournament?” Well let me say this…we would have dominated. Andrew Paine, Scotty Bishop, me, my wife Gabby, and of course the Living Legend Brian Kennedy…any two of us would have worked together to achieve our goals. It’s no secret that the Empire is going after the SCW Tag-team championships next after Brian captured the SCW World Championship from your girl Neela. Believe me when I say this, we’re the pinnacle of this federation. We’re the Standard and to be honest, Feral Destruction or any other lame stables can’t reach it. So all and all, congratulation Brian and to your partner as well. However, know this…you guys are lucky that Empire wasn’t in the tournament or else you two wouldn’t have the titles in the first place. And that ladies and gentlemen is a fact

Speaking of facts, it seems like you got your facts about me all wrong. It’s like I said to Fury before our match…I hate delusional people. Everything you said about me is completely false. First, let me talk about Jordan Post. Jordan and I are or should I say used to be best friends and former tag-team partners at XPW and at other feds as well. We used to be part of the Full Metal stable along with Damon Cross and for we constantly referred to ourselves as the Young Cardinals. When Jordan decided to open his own fed last year, guess who was the first person he contacted about it? ME! Hell, ask Jordan who came up with the name, “Starstruck Championship Wrestling.” ME! When Jordan needed financial help, who did he looked for help? ME! Who is the reason why SCW is popular and has gained lot of fans and media attention? ME! It’s all me! I was never Jordan’s “lackey” you dolt. I’m simply his partner in crime. I’m the reason why SCW is still alive to be quite frankly. Oh and when I “failed” to bring down Neela, Jordan didn’t dropped me. I DROPPED HIM! I realized that he was an incompetent so called owner who couldn’t even control his own fed and allowed guys like Justin Justice and your partner Cam to bully him. Hell, the idiot made a stupid agreement with your aunt and lost his position of general manager…in his own fed! To be honest, I’m glad that I’m not on Jordan’s side anymore because he is a trustworthy and can’t handle business correctly.

Here’s another fact about me that you got wrong. I didn’t go looking around for a new “master” and convince Brian Kennedy to join his Empire. Oh no oh no!! Brian Kennedy is the one who convinced me to join his Empire! Hell, refer back to Brian’s first promo against me and Shane Warner. He wanted me to join his Empire but I declined. After the triple threat match who he won, he once again approached me at backstage about joining his Empire. I actually thought about the pros and the cons and decided that being part of the Empire is a smart business decision that will help elevate my career. I told him that I will only join the Empire if my wife joins as well and he accepted the negotiation. I don’t care what people think about me and to be honest, let them talk crap. I have listened to crap being spew by the haters for years now and I’m used to it. Just another reason to prove them all wrong like I always do homie. Also, I find it funny that you think the Empire’s name is laughable. Remind me again who is holding the top championship in this fed and is reigning supreme. Please remind me because I seem to forget. Fact is Brewster, the Empire is the hottest thing in the market and we’re just going to get better. We already have the World Title gold. It’s only a matter of time before we take that precious tag-team titles belt away from you and Cam and cement our legacy.

But you’re right. This match is not about the tag-team gold. Hell, it’s not about Feral Destruction or the Empire. It’s about you and I and bozo, I honestly think that you’re way over your head if you think you can handle me in the ring. I admit, I have been on the slumps since arriving in SCW, but I’m more focused than ever. I’m more determined to win and my drive to succeed has reached new heights. I’m the man that you should fear Brian. Yes, the rumours are true that I’m doing big things away from SCW like becoming the CEO of XPW, but make no mistake about it… I’m still focused on making a statement here in SCW. Jesse Owusu is never going to leave SCW so you gotta deal with it. Go ahead, call me less significant and act like I don’t matter in SCW anymore. Go right ahead. You’re just setting yourself for your own downfall buddy. I’m that guy that puts the starstruck in Starstruck Championship Wrestling. Everywhere I go; people recognize my name and talk about their favourite moments that include me. From my days at XWE, CWA, XPW, TWE, and of course SCW…I’m that guy that steals the show whenever he can. Let me ask you a question? Who the fuck are you? Truly…who the fuck are you? Because honestly, people only know you as Lynn’s nephew. Nothing more and nothing less. You might say that I’m Jordan Post’s “lackey” or a slave to Brian Kennedy’s Empire, but I’m much more than that. Ask Eric Herrera, Jordan Post, Ken Nogueira, Shane Warner, Damon Cross, Priest, etcetera who the fuck I’m and they will take hours in describing me. I’m a page while you’re just a sentence in the book of wrestling. All eyes are on me and trust me when I say this, I’m ready.

You can read all of the stats about me and talk about my bad record in SCW. You can talk about past shit, but I moved on to bigger and better things. I’m not some guy you can overlook and you won’t get an easy victory over me. Hell, you won’t get a victory over me. Plain and simple. The rise of Jesse Owusu has begun and Brian Brewster…you’re just another victim of the wrath of God’s favourite son. Prepare to face your Revelation

You’re not ready for it. Deuces
